Summer Happenings at Sugarbush

As the greenery comes alive and we witness the final days of the dwindling snow pack on Stein’s, we now turn our sights on summer operations. If you read John Hammond’s thank you letter from earlier this month, you’ll know that things are going to look a little different from what you may be used to for the next couple of months. Here’s a quick breakdown of what to expect.

Activities

The Sugarbush Resort Golf Club and Sugarbush Health & Recreation Center (SHaRC) will both be open daily throughout the summer. Golf is working to repair a couple spots affected by the recent rainfall, and so currently has the front nine and driving range open, but should have all eighteen holes back together soon. After driving the course for some photography last week, I can say it’s looks in excellent shape. All the improvements this team has made to the course over the last several years are really paying off, and it shows the course’s resiliency to weather, improved aesthetics on the course, and quality of the grounds.

The SHaRC has been aiming to open the outdoor pool and hot tub for Memorial Day Weekend, though that remains weather dependent. The indoor pool and hot tub, sports simulators, fitness center, and classes are all operating as regularly scheduled. Check out the Summer Fun Pass for a great deal on SHaRC summer access.

Disc golf will be back this summer with the course expected to be ready to roll near the end of this month. Excitingly, we will also be offering some beginner disc golf clinics this summer, in addition to our weekly league and the several tournaments we host. All of that information should be online soon.

A change this summer is that we expect to only run scenic lift rides July 4th Weekend and Community Weekend. Scenic lift rides outside of that, along with downhill mountain biking, are both activities we are reevaluating as we look to see what we could potentially offer in the future. Of course on the mountain biking front there is plenty of incredible terrain right in the Valley, and we’d encourage trail enthusiasts to check them out. We’ve got a quick guide on biking in the Valley for you to check out here.

Camps

We are offering summer camps for kids ages 4-12. Under the backdrop of Lincoln Peak, our camps typically include a variety of activities including mountain biking, hiking, swimming, team challenges, and creative activities, all designed to build confidence, foster friendships, and promote outdoor exploration in a safe, welcoming environment. You can sign your kids up per week, per day, or even check out our Kids Summer Camp 10 Pack, which will save you 40% on admission. My daughter has done a bit of summer camp over the last couple of years and has loved it. Swimming is her favorite.

Dining

One of our main goals in the summer is to make sure we’re providing a place to eat dinner every night of the week. With that in mind, we plan to connect the dots through three restaurants: Rumble’s Bistro & Bar, Hogan’s Pub, and Green Mountain Lounge. Rumble’s, which reopens Friday evening, will be open for dinner Wednesday through Monday all summer long. Hogan’s Pub opens partially this weekend and fully next week and will typically be open daily for lunch and on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday for dinner (with some cool specials throughout the week). Then, as part of Tuesdays on the Big Deck, Green Mountain Lounge will be serving dinner every Tuesday.

On top of all that, there’s some great dining to be had down in the Valley as well. From Scrag & Roe to Mad Bush Falls to Peace Burger to Mad Taco there a number of restaurants both new and old to sample this summer.

Events

Our events calendar is loaded with both signature events and weekly events to partake in. For some of our bigger events, I’d recommend checking out Allie’s blog here. The first of those big events is The Pig Jig. Now in its second year, expect honky tonk, BBQ, and games.

For the recurring events, you can expect things like Tuesdays on the Big Deck, Friday Music at Hogan’s, and Saturday Music in the Courtyard. Keep checking back on the events calendar as we continue to fill things out and don’t forget about all the awesome events happening around the Valley as well.

We hope you’ll come visit this summer, whether for the first time or as a returning guest. Vermont during the warmer months is one of the best kept secrets going. Of course, if you’d rather linger on your breakup with winter then here are some fun stats from the season. Otherwise, we’ll see you on the hill soon!
