Welcome back to This Mountain Makes Us, our video series celebrating the people and stories that shape Sugarbush and the Mad River Valley. Each episode dives into the heart of our mountain community. The folks who dig, drive, shovel, weld, and dream to make this place what it is.
In Episode Two, we meet Mik Schuyler, a member of the Sugarbush trail crew who wears many hats. Last winter, you could find her snowmaking and working lifts; this summer, she’s been out on the trails helping craft the terrain we all love to ride.
Before landing in Vermont, Mik’s path wound through forests and fire lines across the country. She worked with the U.S. Forest Service and as a wildland firefighter, conducting controlled burns. When Mik arrived at Sugarbush last winter, it was her first season making snow andwitnessing that process firsthand.
This episode is a look into what it takes to build and maintain the playgrounds we all enjoy, and a celebration of the people who pour their energy into keeping Sugarbush running year-round.
Stay tuned for more stories from the slopes, trails, and beyond. Because this mountain makes us, and we’re just getting started.
