State of the Mountain 1/16/26

Let’s start this one off with a banger: Slide Brook opens tomorrow. No need to rub your eyes. No need to shake your head in cartoonish surprise. It’s real and it’s happening. Tomorrow we’ll have all 16 lifts spinning between both mountains. For everyone yearning for this day to come, we sincerely hope you’ll take a ride tomorrow.

It’s the cherry on top of what we expect to be another awesome weekend. Since we last checked in we’ve had another thaw, another freeze, and plenty more snow. That’s getting to be the theme this year when I sit down to write these. And while these thaw/freezes have few and short in duration, they have all thankfully been followed immediately by more fresh snow.

After another 3″ of fresh snow overnight and 10″ in the last three days, our annual snowfall total is now up to 116″. Pretty darn good for mid January. We’ll have just about every trail open tomorrow, and with moderate temps in the 20s and 30s Saturday and teens to 20s Sunday, it should be nothing but good times. Expect groomers to be skiing well right off the bat, with natural terrain getting better as it gets skied in, particularly at higher elevations. Keep an eye on the snow report for the latest.

Then when the legs get tired you can check out one of the many events on the docket for the weekend. From street entertainers to live music to a tree burning party to our very first laser show, it’s going to be action packed. And like we did last year, as a more meaningful way to celebrate the holiday weekend, we’ve once again partnered with Association of Africans Living in Vermont (AALV) to provide Ikon Base Pass holders with a means of unlocking their pass for the weekend with a $99 donation.

We’re looking at an excellent weekend ahead, and we hope you’re ready to join in on the fun.

See you on the mountain.
