Persistent Progress on Heaven’s Gate

If you’ve been tuned in at all to our social media, or if you just happen to live locally, you’d know that the Heaven’s Gate project took some big steps in the last couple of weeks.

With a little bit of air support in the form of a helicopter, we’ve now successfully removed all of the old Heaven’s Gate Triple lift towers, poured cement for new foundations, and installed all but the very top tower of the new Heaven’s Gate Quad (that tower will be installed via crane alongside the terminals). And if you’re wondering why it took until now to get that done, you’ll hopefully recall our blog last winter detailing the project and it’s timing around the Bicknell’s Thrush. We weren’t able to resume louder work until August, and have fighting through helicopter schedules and multiple poor weather mobilization cancellations over the last couple of weeks. But finally, we had the chopper in here late August, and then again in early September.

For those of you lucky enough to catch the action in person, it’s always quite the sight to see lift towers hanging off of helicopter cables. But for anyone who didn’t have a chance to hear the buzzing in person, we’ve compiled a collection of photos for you to check out.

We also put together some sweet video below of the old towers coming out and cement getting poured. And don’t worry, we’re crafting up a more in depth look at the project alongside footage of the new towers in the coming days. Stay tuned…
