Family Friendly Activities in the Valley

If you’re planning a trip to the Mad River Valley with your family, I’ve got you covered. From events lined up at Sugarbush to fun family activities to do in the Valley, we’re covering it all. I’m filling you in on some great family friendly places to visit, along with some key events to check out if you’re visiting during President’s Week! From your youngest kiddo to your adult kids, there’s something here for everyone to enjoy.

3 Family Friendly Places to Visit in the Valley

Canteen Creemee Co.: Is it really a trip to Vermont if you don’t stop for at least one creemee?! I don’t think so. Canteen Creemee Co. is THE place in the Valley to go for creemees. They’ve got classic cones, sundaes, and a full menu of savory items to check out as well. Sit in your trunk for the perfect tailgate frozen treat, or hang out in their newly renovated indoor area and listen to the records spin.

Skatium: The Skatium is one of my favorite places to hit up in the Valley. It’s in outdoor ice skating rink located right in the center of town. There you can skate to your heart’s content or join a family friendly game of pick up hockey! And don’t worry about gear, you can rent skates right there. They also light up the rink into the night, so after a morning on the slopes – it’s the perfect way to end your evening!

Big Picture theater & Café: There’s nothing more classic than catching a movie with the family. Nothing beats that buttery bucket of movie theater popcorn. But the Big Picture Theater is a one stop shop for dinner and a movie! Dine right in the theater and enjoy new movies in their small town style theaters.
