Sugarbush PARKS believes the future of snow sports is shaped by those willing to build it, literally. That’s why they partnered with Hoods to Woods and the Shred Foundation to create Shaping Our Future, a hands-on experience designed to introduce young riders to the world of terrain park design and construction. Over the course of three days (March 7-9), 12 kids from both organizations took part in a transformative workshop, learning the essential skills that go into building the parks they ride.

A Hands-On Learning Experience
From welding and fabrication to shaping, raking, and grooming, participants got an up-close look at what it takes to create a terrain park. Friday kicked off with a welding and fabrication workshop, led by our very own PARKS crew. The kids gained hands-on experience working with metal and learning how to construct features that bring parks to life.

The weekend continued with on-hill park-building sessions featuring guest appearances from industry pros. With guidance from these seasoned experts, the young riders took part in shaping and maintaining the park, gaining insight into the craftsmanship that goes into making a top-tier terrain park.

Community Ride Day – March 9th
The culmination of Shaping Our Future was a community ride day on Sunday, March 9th. Riders from near and far came together to support the kids, ride the features they helped build, and celebrate the hard work that went into making it all happen. To keep the stoke high, we also held a raffle with prizes from our amazing sponsors.

Supporting the Next Generation
This event was more than just a workshop, it was about fostering the next generation of terrain park builders, snowboarders, and skiers. And building community while teaching valuable skills. We encourage everyone to check out Hoods to Woods and the Shred Foundation, learn about their missions, and support their efforts however possible.

A huge thank you to our sponsors and supporters: Dickies, the North Face, Arsenic Anywhere and Splinters Boardshop.
Let’s continue shaping the future: one park, one ride, and one young builder at a time.
