Check Out Our Second Be Better Here Report

This time last year we announced our first ever impact report, the Be Better Here Report. You can read John’s post all about it here. I’m thrilled to announce that this project continues. With the hope it will continue, of course, for years to come. And while each year might look slightly different. Highlighting different partners or initiatives, the core of it is the same. That core emphasizes our commitment to social responsibility. What is encompassed in this commitment is not talked about much. It’s not shouted from the mountain top, but it’s quietly threaded through our daily operations here at Sugarbush. From our recent social post sharing an incredible donation made to AALV with your help over MLK weekend, to staff volunteering to plant trees along the bank of the Mad River. It’s part of our nature and we are proud to be more transparent about these stories.

As we share more and more, it’s important to know that there are three main pillars that make up our core areas of social responsibility: Community, Planet, People. These three areas act as an umbrella that our initiatives fall under working to create sustainable support. Sustainable for the planet through environmental initiatives, sustainable for the community in ensuring we’re supporting surrounding businesses and organizations to help them thrive, and sustainable in our efforts to help people, both our guests and our staff.

Our Commitment

Community: We strive to enact positive change to community well-being both in the local community and the ski industry as a whole. The Be Better Here Fund was put into place as a means of supporting these communities through a variety of philanthropic initiatives.

Planet: Sugarbush is entrusted to sustain the lands in the Mad River Valley. We have a shared responsibility to take climate action seriously and protect the natural environment so that future generations can continue to cultivate a spirit of adventure and camaraderie for many winters to come.

People: We are committed to supporting the progression and development of a community in which individuals from any background can feel comfortable working, exploring, and adventuring. Our team is dedicated to creating a more welcoming environment for guests and employees alike.
