A Weekend of Celebration, Community, and Giving Back

Each year, the holiday weekend over Indigenous Peoples’ Day and Columbus Day Weekend, is seen as one last fall hoorah. One more chance for leaf peeping, sight seeing, and hopefully enjoying a bit more of that warm fall sun. I’m happy to report that Oktoberfest and Community Weekend was exactly that! It was a culmination of all things fall, all things Mad River Valley and all things that make us very happy. From pumpkin carving to our farmer’s market friends vending, and scenic lift rides for a good cause, it was what we always imagined a day for the community would be.

Scenic Lift Rides for a Cause

Another new addition we wanted to bring to our reimagined Community Day, was giving back to, well, the community! We thought one of the best ways to pay it forward would be through our scenic lift rides. Knowing it would be offered over the weekend, we decided that all proceeds through the lift rides would be donated to Knoll Farm’s Better Selves Fellowship. This local program speaks exactly to the type of paying it back we strived for, Community Day. The Better Selves Fellowship is a week of care and support for BIPOC leaders and their allies working for environmental and social change. This fellowship is about restoring and building people power in a time when people power is essential for liberation and health. You can read more about the program, last year’s fellows, and Knoll Farm on their website.
