The one and only Mt. Ellen is celebrating its 60th anniversary this season! Mt. Ellen has a special place in our hearts and to many of our locals and guests who have been visiting for many years. The feeling of a quintessential New England ski resort hasn’t left Mt. Ellen and is often what keeps bringing people back. To celebrate the 60th anniversary, we decided to look back in time and see what we love most about Mt. Ellen. Its history, the retro vibes that never seem to have left, and we can’t forget about those incredible views. Our team has planned events all season long to commemorate Glen Ellen in all its glory. From parties, to retro events, ticket deals, giveaways and more, you’ll want to party with us over at Ellen every day!
Opening Day
Let’s get down to business. Mt. Ellen’s opening day will be December 22, 2023! Join us to start the 60th anniversary off with a bang. We’ll be giving away Glen Ellen pompom hats while supplies last!
NEW Anniversary Events
1/27 Birthday Cowbell Champagne Party – Nothing like a little throwback party! We’re bringing back a Green Mountain Lounge classic with the Cowbell Champagne Party. Originating in 1963, Glen Ellen’s founder, Walt Elliott, invited guests behind the bar on the second floor of the base lodge (then known as the Golden Thistle) to test their cork-shooting prowess. If they hit the cowbell that was hanging from the rafters, drinks were on the house. Sugarbush resurrected the tradition when Mt. Ellen turned half a century old, and it’s making its return again this year.
1/27 Rail Jam – Red Bull DJ Truck and Rail Jam Session presented by the Sugarbush PARKS crew. Bring your board and skis and join us under the lights at the bottom of Straight Shot.
1/27 Anniversary Party – Join us for late night live music with The Detonators in the Green Mountain Lounge.
2/4, 2/11, 2/18 & 2/25 Bloody Bar & Brunch Burger Sunday – All February long brunch in style at Mt. Ellen. Nothing beats a Sunday brunch. But even more so, a Sunday brunch during snowfall, sitting by a fire in the lodge, at the base of the mountain. Get your morning turns in and waltz into the lodge and feel a little bougie (or boozy!) at brunch at Green Mountain Lounge.
2/29 Leap Day Party – We’re celebrating Leap Day! Hop on over to Mt. Ellen to celebrate with $49 lift tickets.
3/17 St. Patrick’s Day – Wear your green, orange, white, and best Irish garb for a St. Patty’s Day party at the Green Mountain Lounge! Enjoy live music and a hopping après scene.
3/30 Glen Ellen Retro Events Day – Enter into throwback events of Sloshwicking and the Gelandesprung (ski jump contest)!
3/31 Closing Day Party – Help us end the Mt. Ellen season the right way with a Closing Day Party on the base lodge deck!

Keep in mind that we not only have anniversary events going on this season, but tons of other events as well! There will be live music weekly with rotating musicians throughout the season, parties and dining specials. Not to mention, on mountain events too like the IFSA Junior Tour and annual High FivesFat-Ski-A-Thon. As well as a ton of events presented by the Sugarbush PARKS team.
