Join us for a one of a kind Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend at Sugarbush Resort! This annual holiday weekend is popular time to get out on the hill, spend time with family, and join in community celebrations. With all the latest snow, there will be plenty of fun and adventure to be had on the mountain. Plus, stick around for daily free activities in the courtyard for all ages and special events too! From returning holiday favorites, to brand new events unique to MLK weekend, you’re sure to find fun on and all the hill all weekend long. New this year, we’ll be partnering with the Burlington-based Association of African’s Living in Vermont (AALV), as well as Vermont artist Harlan Mack to expand our MLK Weekend events. And don’t worry if you have an Ikon Base Pass either, because we’ve got something special going on for you too.

Honoring MLK by Celebrating Local BIPOC Artists & More
Artist Meet and Greet: Harlan Mack
Mack, a Johnson-based artist, is the creator of the newly installed Bola Ace moose sculpture located in the Lincoln Peak Base Area. Moose, New England icons, symbolize strength and resilience. The piece also honors Mack’s two late brothers whose nicknames give it its title.
The artist will be hosting a Meet-and-Greet and displaying some of his other works in the reception area of Rumble’s restaurant in the Lincoln Peak base area from 2-4 PM on Sunday, January 19. The event will culminate with a walk up to the Bola Ace sculpture for a brief talk on how the piece came to life.
Association of Africans Living in Vermont
The AALV helps new Americans from all parts of the world gain independence in their new communities through a range of integration services. What originally started as a way for the small African community in Vermont to get together for social events eventually transformed into a social services agency dedicated to serving not just Africans but all refugees in the state.
Sugarbush and the AALV have had a close relationship for the last several years through the Share Winter Foundation, a non-profit grantmaking organization that provides resources, advocacy, and community support for youth learn-to-ski and -snowboard programs, mainly those that serve kids that may otherwise be denied access to the sport.
Ikon Base Pass Holder Promotional Fundraiser
Ikon Base pass holders, who are typically restricted during the MLK holiday, will be able to unlock their pass by donating $99 to the AALV to support their mission. Guests looking to donate can visit sugarbush.com for more information. In addition to the donation initiative, the AALV will be on resort with educational materials over the long weekend.
