And what a weekend it was! Bringing back Oktoberfest celebrations after a few years and joining it with our annual Community Day event was a smashing success. We are so thrilled so many of you came out to enjoy the good weather, good company, and festivities. Both Saturday and Sunday were filled with unique events, tasty German bites, surrounded by lots to see and do. From the State of the Mountain speech and video presented by John Hammond, to pumpkin carving, scenic lift rides, keg tossing, caricature artist, stein holding and more, it was a jam packed weekend of fun. Next year’s event is already in the works and you can expect even more oom-pa-ing, hoisting, and axe throwing! So save the date now for Oktoberfest and Community Day next year over the long holiday weekend. Now, let’s take a look at some of our favorite moments from the weekend
The Food!
Did you get your wurst on this weekend? I did, and I’m a vegetarian! We had a little taste of Germany at our Oktoberfest celebration with a Switchback bratwurst served on a crusty roll with local sauerkraut and house made beer mustard, a Carrotwurst served on a crusty roll with local sauerkraut and house made beer mustard, and a soft pretzel with a beer cheese add on. These were the perfect bites to pair with any of the local beers on tap throughout the weekend.
The Faces
Ya’ll got INTO the activities this weekend and…we loved it! We had some amazing competitors and participants across the board. Our first time having Burly Axe come had everyone proving their axe throwing capabilities. Plus, keg tossing was enjoyed across the board from tossers to spectators alike. And possibly the most popular activity of all, the stein hoist! Between the shouting from the crowd to the grimaces of those trying to keep a straight arm, it was a hit!
